The main purpose of the water breaker is to break undesired parts of the flat glass ribbon; it is set up in the annealing lehr above the concrete opening.
The water collection tray underneath the water pipe moves away pneumatically. When the shut-off valves are opened, water flows out of the discharge holes and drops on the hot glass. As soon as the waterdrops fall on the still hot glass, the glass breaks into numerous individual pieces that fall through an opening in the concrete floor onto a conveyor belt.
The water breaker is comprised of the base frame, a water collection channel, the water pipe and two pneumatic linear drives.
